You might think, given the fact that I find myself in the role of a spiritual teacher, that I'd have this total Zen approach to spirituality... I walk outside, birds land on my shoulders and animals flock to me... The lessons come in neatly packaged forms, tied up with ribbon and laid at my feet... you know, stuff like that.
Trust me - nothing could be further from the truth! As my close friends know, I can often be totally clueless and it's not until I've been repeatedly beaten over the head with a psychic mallet that I start to get an idea of what's going on. I've gotten better about it over the years, but as the following attests, I'm not anywhere near to being done. LOL
I've been struggling with an issue in my personal world off and on for a long time. No, it's not embarrassing or anything like that, it's just really boring to try and explain. The core of the issue is that I haven't been able to figure out what to do. I've just been plodding along, hoping for the best and praying that, when the time comes, I'll be shown what to do.
Last night in the Dreamtime, I'm browsing through a music store, looking at CDs (I've recently been approached about covering pagan-friendly artists through Old Ways, hence the dream) and had been woken up a couple of times by gusts of wind from outside of the house. (It's been pretty stormy here.) From the other side of the CDs, an aisle over, an Irish-looking fellow catches my eye, cups his hands to his mouth, and shouts, "LISTEN FOR THE SOUND OF THE RAIN!" And just to be sure that I got the message, my eyes fell on the track listing of the CD I was holding and there, right in front of me, was a song with the same name - "Listen for the Sound of the Rain."
The good news about being a spiritual teacher, this actually meant something to me - and it's a concept that I'll write about in the next installment of All Around Us. But I thought it was pretty funny that, in order to get a message across to me, the spirit world had to literally shout to get my attention.
